The Boadilla del Monte City Council has earned €64,440,962 since 2019 from the management of its assets, mainly from the sale of land. Public concessions and filming have also contributed significant amounts.
The Boadilla del Monte City Council has raised €64,440,962 between 2019 and the present thanks to the management, exploitation, and enhancement of its municipal assets. This figure includes operations such as land sales, concessions, surface rights, leases, space reservations, and filming.
Land sales: 88.6% of income
The sale of land is the largest source of income, amounting to €57,118,233, which is 88.6% of the total. Land has been sold in areas such as Viñas Viejas, La Cárcava, Los Fresnos, or El Pastel, intended for housing, commercial, and industrial uses, according to the current urban planning.
These operations allow the council to obtain liquidity for investments without resorting to new taxes. The City Council emphasizes that all sales comply with legality and the approved urban development plans.
Public concessions: nearly €6.4 million
Public concessions have generated €6,373,743, close to 10% of the total. These are long-term authorizations to companies to exploit public spaces while maintaining municipal ownership. Notable examples include sports facilities managed by ATP and BeOne, educational centres Highlands, Casvi, Hélade, and Quercus, and establishments like Gasterea, McDonald's, or the ONCE kiosk. It also includes the operation of El Kiosko and the electric chargers from Iberdrola.
For residents, these concessions mean the availability of sports, educational, and commercial services without the City Council bearing the costs of direct management.
Surface rights and other sources
Surface rights have contributed €739,505. An example is the one linked to the Carrefour supermarket in La Cárcava, where the City Council retains ownership of the land while a third party operates the facility.
Filming has added €105,895, with recordings of advertisements, short films, corporate videos, and feature films. The council ensures that these activities are compatible with residential use. Public concessions (temporary permits for fairs, concerts, works) have generated €53,592. The leasing of parking spaces in La Millonaria has reported €24,880, and other space reservations (moving, informational tables for parties) have added €25,114.
In total, asset management has diversified the sources of municipal income, reducing dependence on taxes. The City Council plans to continue this line of responsible exploitation of its assets.
