The most internationally renowned acting couple from Spain resides in Valdelagua, an exclusive gated community 30 kilometres from Madrid with restricted access and only 285 luxury chalets.

Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem have found their own paradise in the Community of Madrid. Not in traditional luxury areas like La Moraleja or Pozuelo, but in Valdelagua, a gated community already known as the 'Beverly Hills' of Madrid. Located just 30 kilometres from the capital, next to the Regional Park of the Upper Manzanares Basin, this area offers something that money cannot easily buy: total anonymity.

A luxury refuge in the heart of the Madrid mountains

Valdelagua is not your typical development. With only 285 luxury chalets, access is restricted and it is considered the safest area against paparazzi in the entire region. There, the silence is only broken by the sound of the mountains, and the neighbours —including Rocío Carrasco and Mónica Cruz— form a close-knit circle where privacy is the currency.

The couple's home, designed by the prestigious A-cero studio of Joaquín Torres and Rafael Llamazares, is a contemporary work of art. Polished stone facades, selected marbles, and exotic woods combine in a minimalist dwelling that offers panoramic views of the northern mountains of Madrid, with San Agustín de Guadalix silhouetted on the horizon.

Inside, comfort is absolute: private gym, designer pool, jacuzzi, and a sprawling garden. Everything is designed for the actors to unwind after an intense shoot in Los Angeles or London.

The prices of exclusivity

Living in Valdelagua is not within everyone's reach. Although the average prices in the community range from €600,000 to €1.5 million, the most exclusive plots —like the couple's— far exceed these figures. These are plots that usually hover around 4,000 square metres, more than enough space for their children to grow up away from the spotlight.

Moreover, the connection to Barajas Airport is immediate. For someone living among planes, being able to land and be on their sofa in less than twenty minutes is the true silent luxury. For the average neighbour, this area has become an investment magnet: San Agustín de Guadalix and Colmenar Viejo are gaining value thanks to this 'pull effect' of the celebrities.

The Bardem-Cruz real estate empire

Valdelagua is their headquarters, but it is not their only property. The couple's wealth is as international as their careers. For years, they enjoyed a villa in Los Angeles, near Sunset Boulevard, which they sold for over €3 million. They also have a retreat in the Bahamas, their preferred spot for discreet holidays.

However, Madrid always calls, and that is why they maintain an impressive real estate asset in the heart of the city: a 350-square-metre flat next to El Retiro Park, in a historic building with privileged views of the green lung of the capital. Ideal for when their schedule forces them to sleep in the centre.

In the end, it is clear that for Penélope and Javier, success is not only measured in golden statuettes but in the ability to close the door of their home in Valdelagua and keep the whole world outside. And you, would you trade the hustle of Castellana for the sunrises in front of the Madrid mountains?
