The Arganda del Rey City Council will allocate €115,000 this year for uniforms and safety materials for its personnel, compared to €52,580 in the previous year. Bulletproof vests account for €30,000 of the budget.
The Arganda del Rey City Council has increased by 118% the investment allocated to the uniforms and specific materials for the Local Police and the volunteer Civil Protection group for 2026. The budget reaches €115,000, compared to €52,580 from the previous year.
This budget will cover the official uniforms, footwear, accessories, and safety materials for the personnel. Of that amount, €30,000 (26%) is specifically reserved for bulletproof vests.
The mayor of Arganda, Alberto Escribano, has emphasized that the protection of the residents starts with the protection of those who work for their safety: “The protection of the people of Arganda begins with the very protection of the personnel who look after us.” In his opinion, it is essential that they have the best tools and materials available to them.
This increase is part of other measures by the municipal government to strengthen security in the municipality. Among them, the incorporation of 15 new Local Police officers last February, the launch of the Neighbourhood Police, the restoration of permanent police surveillance at the La Poveda station, and the upcoming creation of 12 new meeting points with the Local Police.
The allocation is part of the current municipal budget and aims to provide security forces with updated resources for their daily work.
