The work, which began this Monday, includes sanding, varnishing, and new marking of the 1,356 m2 of flooring, the first such action in seven years.

The Arganda del Rey City Council has initiated the comprehensive repair of the flooring of the Príncipe Felipe Sports City pavilion. The works started this Monday, August 3, and will last for two weeks to prepare the main sports venue of the municipality for the upcoming season.

The action covers 1,356 square meters of surface, which will be sanded, varnished, and marked again. This is the first time in seven years that an intervention of this magnitude has been undertaken on the flooring, as reported by the City Council.

The mayor of Arganda, Alberto Escribano, celebrated the start of the work through his social media, where he noted that the aim is for the facility to “look new again for the start of the season.”

The pavilion regularly hosts competitions and training sessions for futsal, basketball, and rhythmic gymnastics, making the improvement of the floor crucial for the development of these disciplines.

This repair adds to other maintenance actions recently carried out in the sports facilities of Arganda. Among them are the painting of the León Felipe School Hall and the clearing, pruning, and cleaning of green areas in the Príncipe Felipe Sports City and the Virgen del Carmen Sports Centre.

These recent works have been executed by students from the Employment and Professional Qualification Promotion Programme, an initiative that combines training with the improvement of public spaces in the municipality.

With this intervention, the City Council aims for local athletes to start the new season in optimal conditions, avoiding the wear accumulated from the continuous use of the court.
