The General Directorate of Tourism has commissioned the Spanish Railways Foundation to carry out new promotional actions for the four greenways in Madrid, which include drone videos, maps in English and French, and updated web content.
The Community of Madrid strengthens its commitment to sustainable tourism with a new package of promotional measures for its four greenways: the Tajuña Greenway, the Guadarrama River Greenway, the 40 Days Train Greenway, and the Gasolina Greenway. The agreement, entrusted to the Spanish Railways Foundation (FFE), includes the updating of digital content and the production of high-impact audiovisual material.
Drone videos and multilingual maps
One of the most striking new features is the recording of a video using drone technology over three of the main greenways. The material will be edited in two versions: a three-minute version for websites and another one-minute version intended for social media. Both cuts will be available in Spanish and English, aiming to reach an international audience.
Additionally, 'premium' maps of the Madrid greenways will be incorporated in English and French. Until now, they only existed in Spanish, but the new version will include all geolocated facilities and services, with more detailed information. These maps will complement the 360º digitalization already carried out on three of the routes.
The website www.viasverdes.com will be updated with new tourist content, available in three languages (Spanish, English, and French). Services such as bicycle rentals, which have recently been implemented on some of the routes, will also be included.
Presence at fairs and collaboration with Turespaña
The promotional plan includes the dissemination of material through the Action Plan with Turespaña, which will allow reaching tourists from around the world. Furthermore, brochures and other materials will continue to be present at specialized fairs in cycling tourism, a growing segment.
The General Directorate of Tourism and Hospitality of the Community of Madrid has previously worked with the FFE on campaigns that included the 360º digitalization of the Tajuña, 40 Days Train, and Guadarrama River routes, a virtual exhibition, social media campaigns, and the production of podcasts. This new push aims to consolidate the greenways as a reference sustainable tourist destination.
For the visitor to Madrid, these routes offer a nature getaway without leaving the region. The Tajuña Greenway, for example, runs along former railway tracks between Arganda del Rey and Morata de Tajuña, featuring landscapes of crops and ravines. The Guadarrama River Greenway, in the southwest, winds through riverside forests and pastures. The 40 Days Train Greenway, in the Sierra Norte, and the Gasolina Greenway, in the Alcalá de Henares area, complete the offer.
Those interested can consult the routes, bike rental points, and services on the website www.viasverdes.com, which will be updated in the coming weeks. With these actions, the Community of Madrid hopes to attract both national cyclists and foreign travelers seeking sustainable and local experiences.
