The patron saint festivals of Leganés in honour of Our Lady of Butarque begin this Saturday with concerts by Pampran and Jonathan España and the 'Opening Party' with DJ Santy Amate. The fair opens this Friday.
Leganés kicks off its patron saint festivals in honour of Our Lady of Butarque this weekend. Although the official celebration will take place from Tuesday 11 to Sunday 16 August, the first activities begin this Friday with the inauguration of the amusement fair at the Fairgrounds, continuing on Saturday 8 with a night of concerts and the much-anticipated 'Opening Party' for the younger crowd.
On Saturday, starting at 21:00, the Fairgrounds will host performances by Pampran and Jonathan España, followed from 00:00 by DJ Santy Amate, a regular at these festivals. Entry to all concerts will be free.
This Friday, starting at 21:30, actors from the Theatrical Visits will distribute the festival programme around Plaza de España and then through the Fairgrounds. Additionally, the groups El Bostezo Pepinero and Lemans will organise their first activities: a mus championship at 17:00, children's games at 20:00, distribution of migas and lemonade with disco at 21:30, and a 'belly popping' contest at 23:00.
A proclamation featuring 'París de Noia' as the main attraction
One of the major novelties this year is the relocation of the proclamation to the parking lot on Avenida de la Lengua Española on Wednesday 12, to accommodate the performance of the orchestra 'París de Noia', considered one of the best in the national scene. The presidents of the groups will be responsible for delivering the inaugural speech.
The councillor for Celebrations, Almudena A. Jiménez, has highlighted the role of the groups:
“The Groups are once again occupying their rightful place: they are the heart and soul of the festivals, keeping the tradition alive, filling the streets with colour and ensuring that each edition has a unique personality. That is why we also wanted to give a very special prominence to the proclamation, with a show worthy of what Leganés deserves. París de Noia is not just an orchestra; it is one of the largest and best musical shows in our country.”
Concerts for all tastes
The musical programme includes the Radiolé Festival on Tuesday 11, featuring artists such as 'Por Camela', 'Los Sobraos', Sylvia Pantoja, or 'El Tren de los Sueños'. On Thursday 13, it will be the turn of pop from the Asturian Enol and the Pamplonian Paul Alone, while on Friday 14, the legendary 'Café Quijano' will perform. On Saturday 15, Demarco Flamenco will take the stage, and on Sunday 16, the 'Los 40 Urban Party' Festival will be held, featuring Dalex, Wolfine, Kidd Voodoo, Robi, Ptazeta, Kristina, and Mar Lucas.
On Saturday 8, there will also be group activities in the afternoon, organised by El Bostezo Pepinero, Silver, and Lemans, including face painting, a mini disco, painting workshops, children's games, storytelling, and distribution of hot dogs and lemonade.
Accessible fair and children's days
The amusement fair will remain open from this Friday until Sunday 16. Children's Days, with discounts, will be on Monday 10 and Wednesday 12. Additionally, to facilitate access for children with ASD, the fair will be noise-free from 20:00 to 22:00 on Saturday 8, Tuesday 11, and Thursday 13. Children with ASD can ride for free with a wristband that can be reserved via WhatsApp at 633 78 48 58 from 5 August.
