The Town Hall of Tres Cantos and the Autonomous University of Madrid are keeping the enrolment period open for six courses at the Aula UAM+50, aimed at those over 50 years old. Classes will be held in the 21 de Marzo building and offer special prices for residents.

The Aula UAM+50, the university training programme for those over 50 years old promoted by the Town Hall of Tres Cantos, the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), and its foundation (FUAM), has opened enrolment for the 2026-2027 academic year. The offer includes six new programmes that will be taught in the Auditorium of the 21 de Marzo building, without the need to travel to the university campus.

The programme covers areas such as history, art, geopolitics, and personal wellbeing. Among the courses is History of Madrid: City of Light, a journey through the historical, artistic, and archaeological evolution of the capital, with special attention to its heritage and the most important museums. Art in the Peninsular Middle Ages is also offered, analysing the architecture and figurative arts of the Christian kingdoms and al-Andalus.

For those who prefer to analyse current international affairs, the programme includes two courses on Geopolitics and Geoeconomics of Current Conflicts, focusing on the economic and strategic keys of the conflicts and transformations of the contemporary world. Additionally, two parts of Personality and Wellbeing are offered, aimed at personal development and emotional wellbeing.

The courses are semester-based and are directed at residents over 50 years old in Tres Cantos, who will benefit from a special price for enrolment. The Councillor for Education, Marisa Peña, highlights that this measure "facilitates access to this university training and reinforces the municipal commitment to lifelong learning."

From FUAM, they emphasise the "high level of prior knowledge" of the Tres Cantos students, a profile that they say has grown exponentially year after year and enriches the development of sessions and the exchange of experiences in the classroom. Peña encourages residents to participate: "The Aula UAM+50 represents an excellent opportunity to discover new areas of knowledge and enjoy quality university education without leaving Tres Cantos."

Enrolment can be done online through the FUAM page, or with personalised assistance. Interested parties can write to secretaria.formacioncontinua@fuam.es or call 651 19 78 25 and 651 19 79 35, where they will receive help throughout the process. All information about the courses and their contents is available at the link provided by FUAM.
