The Tres Cantos City Council has launched the 'Responsible Hospitality' campaign to promote cleanliness and recycling in hospitality establishments. The initiative begins on Avenida de Viñuelas and Calle Neptuno.

The Tres Cantos City Council has launched the Responsible Hospitality campaign, a joint initiative of the Departments of Commerce and Public Services aimed at reinforcing coexistence, cleanliness, and waste management in the main dining areas of the municipality.

The first phase of the campaign has already been implemented in the establishments around Avenida de Viñuelas and Calle Neptuno, one of the city's most important commercial axes. The goal is to promote a cleaner, more sustainable, and well-maintained urban environment, especially during the summer months when customer footfall and terrace consumption increase.

Participating hospitality businesses receive visits from municipal staff, who provide information and advice on the proper handling of waste generated in their daily activities. Additionally, they are given support containers to facilitate the transport of waste to designated points and a certification badge identifying them as 'Establishment Committed to Responsible Hospitality'.

María José Beltrán, Councillor for Commerce, highlighted that hospitality is a key sector for the economic and social activity of Tres Cantos. “With this initiative, we want to support their professional teams towards increasingly sustainable and effective management that will positively impact the entire community,” she stated.

The campaign also includes a reinforcement of municipal cleaning services. According to Pedro Fernández, Councillor for Public Services, the frequency of the bulky waste collection brigade will be increased upon request, and three weekly actions will be carried out to sanitise the containers.

Furthermore, the initiative will integrate specific follow-up and inspection tasks in the establishments to ensure compliance with waste disposal regulations. “The Tres Cantos City Council continues to advance in its firm commitment to improving cleanliness, the image, and coexistence in the city,” Fernández clarified.

The mayor, Jesús Moreno, emphasised the importance of collaboration between the City Council and the hospitality sector. “We want to provide local hospitality businesses with all the necessary tools to balance their activities with the care of public spaces, urban cleanliness, and the well-being of residents,” he affirmed.

After this first phase, the City Council will evaluate the results obtained by analysing recorded incidents, the evolution of cleanliness in the area, and the level of participation of the participating establishments. The aim is to subsequently extend the campaign to other dining areas in the municipality.

The Responsible Hospitality initiative is part of the municipal policies for sustainability and the improvement of public spaces. Through it, the City Council aims to involve hospitality operators in maintaining urban cleanliness and proper waste management, which are fundamental aspects for neighbourhood coexistence.

The residents of Tres Cantos can already identify the establishments participating in the campaign through the badge 'Establishment Committed to Responsible Hospitality'. It is expected that the initiative will have a positive impact on the image of dining areas and the quality of life of residents.
