This measure comes at a time of strong community mobilization, with a campaign on Change.org that has gathered hundreds of signatures demanding an urgent solution from the City Council.
A tower that worries residents
The electrical structure, located opposite the La Solana neighbourhood, has generated increasing discontent among residents, who report concerns about the proximity of electromagnetic waves to their homes. Families, especially those with children and the elderly, fear the potential health effects and are urging the City Council to act immediately. "We have been living with this tower just metres from our homes for years, and we cannot wait any longer," local sources state.
Vox's proposal, registered for debate in the Plenary, demands that the local government of the People's Party immediately provide all files, reports, and communications related to the electrical installation. "We want total transparency about how this infrastructure was authorised and what plans are in place for its removal," the municipal group asserts.
Urgent working group with the City Council of Madrid and Red Eléctrica
Vox's initiative goes beyond mere oversight. The party is requesting the convening of an urgent working group that includes the City Council of Madrid, the Solana entity, and Red Eléctrica. The aim is to study the technical and economic feasibility of burying the wiring, as well as to establish a public timetable with specific deadlines for bidding and construction.
"This is not just about asking, but about putting a realistic plan on the table with dates," Vox explains. The party reminds that other municipalities in Madrid have successfully executed similar projects, demonstrating that the relocation of these structures is feasible. "If it has been done in other areas, why not here?" they ask.
Increasing community mobilization
As the political initiative progresses, citizen pressure continues unabated. The petition campaign on Change.org, launched by the residents of La Moraleja, is gaining support every day. Residents have conveyed their demands to the municipal Plenary and hope that the City Council of Alcobendas, governed by the PP, will listen to their requests.
"We will not stop until this tower disappears from our streets," assures a community spokesperson. The protest has managed to unite families from different ideologies, who are calling for a definitive solution to a problem they have faced for years. Safety and health for the youngest are the main arguments of a mobilization that shows no signs of letting up.
The municipal group of Vox insists that the City Council must prioritise this issue. "We cannot allow administrative inaction to put our neighbours at risk," they conclude. The party hopes that the initiative will be debated in the next Plenary and that the local government will commit to providing a concrete response.
Meanwhile, the residents of La Moraleja continue to collect signatures and organise meetings to maintain pressure. The high voltage tower, which stands as a symbol of administrative neglect, could have its days numbered if the mobilization and the political initiative achieve their goal.
