The Community of Madrid has presented the sixth edition of Hispanidad, which will take place from October 2 to 12 with over 150 activities. Colombian Sebastián Yatra heads a lineup that includes Marta Sánchez and Arturo Sandoval, with the United States as the guest country.
Plaza de España will be the musical epicentre of the grand celebration of hispanidad. On October 10, Colombian singer Sebastián Yatra will perform a free concert under the slogan 'All accents of Spanish fit in Madrid'. The following day, Marta Sánchez will take over the same stage, while jazz master Arturo Sandoval will perform and give a masterclass at the Teatro Magno.
Six hundred million Spanish speakers as a common thread
The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sport, Mariano de Paco Serrano, presented the programme highlighting that Spanish is the great link that unites the Hispanic community. According to his data, 600 million people speak Spanish worldwide, of which 60 million reside in the United States. The North American country is the guest of honour this edition, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of its independence.
The programme includes three large outdoor stages: Plaza de España, Puerta del Sol, and Plaza Mayor. There will also be activities in Parque de Santander and the Gardens of the Palacio de Vista Alegre. The Hispanidad Parade will travel down Gran Vía on October 4 with 15 floats, two of which are dedicated to Madrid and the United States.
“Spanish is the great thread that weaves together Hispanidad and allows such a diverse community to continue recognising itself generation after generation,” said De Paco Serrano during the presentation.
Gastronomy, sport, and culture at Puente del Rey
As a new feature, the area of Puente del Rey will host gastronomic and sporting activities. On October 11, the Hispanidad Race 'Madrid runs in Spanish' will be held, organised with Madblue. Additionally, for three days, Ágave y Maíz. Great Mexican Festival will take place, in collaboration with Casa de México and Sello Copil.
The cultural programme extends to emblematic spaces. At Teatros del Canal, 'Baco polaco' by Mauricio Kartum and 'Ferial de Calaveras' from Aguas Calientes will be performed. The Casa Museo de Lope de Vega will host the exhibition 'Pintura de castas', and the Teatro Real Coliseo Carlos III, in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, will offer a concert by Marta Espinós sponsored by the Joaquín Achúcarro Foundation of Dallas.
United States, the protagonist of the edition
The guest country will have a special weight in the programme. A tribute to the Hispanic influence on the independence of the United States has been organised with the project '1776-We The Hispanics', which includes an exhibition at Puerta del Sol. There will also be a day dedicated to collecting Spanish art in collaboration with the Meadows Museum of Dallas, and the participation of Guam, a US territory in the Pacific, in the parade.
On October 12, National Day, the traditional Hispanidad Bullfight will be celebrated at the Plaza de Toros de las Ventas. The municipal bands from Arroyomolinos, Chinchón, Móstoles, Navalcarnero, Vallecas, Villa de Madrid, and Villa del Prado will entertain the day in their respective municipalities.
Record attendance in 2025
The 2025 edition broke records: over 900,000 attendees, a 30% increase from the previous year, with an economic impact exceeding 46 million euros and a return of nearly 10 euros for every euro invested. These figures consolidate Hispanidad as one of the most important international events dedicated to Spanish culture.
Among the confirmed artists for 2026 are also Cuban Aymée Nuviola, Franco-Venezuelan La Chica, Peruvian group Tipa Tipo, Colombians Los Cumbia Stars, Cuban Cimafunk, and Spaniards Lin Cortés, Nat Simons, and Los Nikis de la Pradera. The World Street Brass Band from New Orleans will add a jazz touch, and the show 'From Broadway to Gran Vía' will connect the two great theatres of the world.
