Once friends from Madrid, the band Los Torreznos, decided to keep playing after their contracted performance and ended up energising the fans' celebration on their way to Cibeles. Their improvised music united thousands of people in a spontaneous street party.
There was no need to wait for the champions' bus to appear among the crowd for the party to explode in the streets of Madrid. The soundtrack of the celebration was provided by eleven friends from the capital who, with trumpets, drums, and saxophones, turned the route to Cibeles into an improvised street party. The band Los Torreznos, initially hired for a specific stretch, decided to keep playing on their own initiative and became the soul of the party.
From a job to an improvised decision
It all started as a commission from a brand to liven up a section of the route. But when the commitment ended, none of the eleven musicians wanted to put down their instruments. The energy of the fans, who were already chanting and jumping around them, convinced them to continue. "Right now we are just here to have a good time and to make people have a good time," explained Carla, one of the members, between songs.
Dozens of fans formed circles as they passed by. Wherever they stopped, the celebration multiplied. Children, families, and groups of friends joined the improvised street party, making the hours of waiting for the World Cup champions more bearable. The band moved along with the red tide heading towards Cibeles, without a clearly defined destination. "Our idea is to get to Cibeles… and then, wherever the wind takes us," Carla said with laughter, while the music barely left room for conversation.
An spontaneous party that unites strangers
Los Torreznos are used to providing the soundtrack for popular parties and street festivals, but they admit that they had rarely experienced an atmosphere like that of this Monday. "People are incredibly excited," Carla assured, as the brass and drums sounded around her once again. It was enough for the first notes to start playing for the crowd to respond with claps, jumps, and chants.
On a day marked by collective euphoria, the band became much more than a musical accompaniment. It was the thread that connected a spontaneous party that united strangers to the rhythm of the same songs. Demonstrating, once again, that football is also celebrated through dance. Because as long as they have strength, they will keep playing. "Days like today we don’t know if we will live them again," Carla summarised before rejoining the group and getting lost once more in the crowd.
For the Madrileños who approached the celebration, the band was a welcome surprise. Many joined the party unexpectedly, swept along by the music. "I didn’t think I would stay so long, but this is incredible," commented a fan while dancing to the beat of the drums. The day, which began with the wait for the champions' bus, ended up being an unforgettable memory for those who shared those moments of collective joy.
