José Mourinho has begun his second stint as coach of Real Madrid at the Valdebebas Sports City. The Portuguese manager has stated that he wants to instil a culture of work, responsibility, and ambition in the dressing room.

José Mourinho has stepped onto the pitch at Valdebebas as Real Madrid's coach, 13 years after his first term. The Portuguese has started working at the Sports City with a speech marked by demand and commitment. "It’s not about working at Real Madrid, it’s about working for Real Madrid," he stated.

A message of responsibility and honour

In his first official statements, recorded by the club, Mourinho made it clear that his goal goes beyond immediate results. "I want to create a culture of work, responsibility, ambition, and something I know well: the responsibility and honour of working for Real Madrid," he explained.

The Portuguese coach insisted that "words are not enough" and that his mission is "to help everyone be better: players, staff..." Mourinho emphasised that he arrives "with a mission spirit" and that his bond with the club is special: "I love this club."

Planning and pre-season

Mourinho revealed that he has been working with the club's structure for weeks, although he has only just begun the in-person phase. "Today has practically been about arriving and controlling everything that has been done and what we still have to do," he noted.

The coach explained that he will take advantage of the next two weeks to get to know the younger players from Castilla who will join the pre-season. "I like to participate and help the growth of this area. A world champion will come out of here," he predicted.

Mourinho wanted to send a message of positivity: "We need to look at it positively, which is getting to know the boys I will be working with and giving them the opportunity to know me." The coach concluded his speech with a loud "¡Hala Madrid y nada más!".

Impact on the Madrid fans

Mourinho's return to the Santiago Bernabéu bench has generated enormous excitement among the capital's fans. The Portuguese, who previously managed the team from 2010 to 2013, returns with the mission of bringing Real Madrid back to the top of European football. Members and supporters hope that his winning character and experience will be key to overcoming the challenges of the upcoming season.

The coach has highlighted that his goal is to "create a work culture" that permeates the entire club, from the first team to the youth academy. The upcoming friendlies and pre-season will be the first test to see how that message is reflected on the pitch.

Mourinho has made it clear that he is not here for tourism: "I am here to help everyone be better." With that premise, the Portuguese begins a new chapter that promises strong emotions in the capital.
