The regional government will contribute €150,000 for the exhibition 'La Menesunda according to Marta Minujín', which will be on display at the museum from 17 November 2026.
The Community of Madrid and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS) have sealed a collaboration agreement to promote the activity of the gallery and attract high-value cultural tourism. The agreement, signed this week, includes a budget of €150,000 for the organisation of an exhibition dedicated to the Argentine artist Marta Minujín.
The exhibition, titled La Menesunda according to Marta Minujín, will be installed at the main venue of the Reina Sofía from 17 November 2026 to 8 March 2027. The project centres around the emblematic installation of the same name by the creator, which will be complemented by a selection of videos and documentary material from her interventions, presented for the first time in Spain in a retrospective format.
The exhibition is the result of an international co-production involving Tate Liverpool, the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires, and MNCARS itself. After its stop in Madrid, the exhibition will continue its tour at the British gallery and the Centre Pompidou in Brussels.
With this initiative, the regional government is advancing towards the objectives of the Regional Tourism Strategy 2023/26, which aims to consolidate a quality tourism model. For visitors to the Community of Madrid, the arrival of this retrospective enhances the cultural offering of the capital and makes the Reina Sofía a magnet for lovers of international contemporary art.
The collaboration between both institutions is not new, but this agreement deepens a line of work aimed at diversifying the cultural and tourist offering of the region. Tickets for the exhibition will be available for purchase through the museum's website as the opening date approaches.
