The Alcalá de Henares City Council transfers to the Community of Madrid the plot at number 132 Vía Complutense where the future transport interchange will be built, a project costing 14 million that will start in 2026.
The Alcalá de Henares City Council approved on Thursday the transfer to the Community of Madrid of the municipal plot located at number 132 Vía Complutense, the land on which the future modal transport interchange of the city will be constructed. The agreement, adopted in the Local Government Board, is formalised through a subjective domain mutation, a mechanism that allows the transfer of land ownership to the regional administration.
The Board also reported on the specific modification of the agreement signed for the development of the project, which already has the Special Plan approved and the works awarded by the Community of Madrid for 10.8 million euros. The total planned investment exceeds 14 million euros.
The future interchange will concentrate 16 bus lines and will have 161 conventional parking spaces, plus another 10 reserved for people with reduced mobility. According to the regional government's forecasts, the works will begin during the second half of 2026 and the infrastructure could be operational in the second half of 2027.
The municipal government, led by Mayor Judith Piquet, continues to push forward the procedures to make a project that aims to reorganise public transport in Alcalá a reality, facilitate exchanges between different modes of mobility, and strengthen the city's connections with the rest of the Community of Madrid.
For the residents of Alcalá, the launch of the interchange will mean a unique connection point between urban and interurban buses, with more park-and-ride spaces and better access to the regional transport network. The next administrative step will be the formalisation of the transfer and the start of construction, expected for next year.
