From 10th to 13th September, the Arte Madrid association celebrates its 17th edition with free access and extended hours in 60 spaces across the capital.
The capital is preparing to once again become the epicentre of contemporary art. The Arte Madrid association has organised the 17th edition of Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend, which will take place from 10th to 13th September with the participation of 60 galleries and over 500 national and international artists.
For four days, creative spaces in neighbourhoods such as Salesas, Chueca, Lavapiés, Salamanca, and Las Letras will open their doors for free and with extended hours to present their new exhibitions. The aim is to turn the streets of Madrid into an open-air exhibition route that invites locals and visitors to rediscover the local art scene.
The opening hours will be as follows: on Thursday 10th September, from 13:30 to 22:00; on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th, from 11:00 to 20:00; and on Sunday 13th, from 11:00 to 14:00. Entry is free at all participating spaces.
The initiative is supported by the Community of Madrid, the City Council of Madrid, and the Ministry of Culture, which collaborate to establish the city as a reference point in the international contemporary art circuit. With this new edition, the capital reinforces its position as a top cultural destination.
For those wishing to plan their route, the Arte Madrid association recommends checking the map of participating galleries on its website. The event is a unique opportunity to experience the most current proposals in the artistic landscape and support the work of local galleries.
