The Town Hall of Pozuelo de Alarcón presented the complete programme for the festivities of Our Lady of Consolation this Monday, which will take place from September 5 to 13. Music, featuring Vanesa Martín and Pignoise, along with tradition, will converge in the town centre and in the marquee of the fairgrounds.
The patron saint festivities of Pozuelo de Alarcón now have a programme. The Town Hall announced this Monday all the events for Our Lady of Consolation, which will take place from September 5 to 13 in the town centre and in the marquee of the provisional fairgrounds. Music, religious events, popular gatherings, and the bullfighting fair will make up an event that will kick off on Saturday, September 5 at 20:00 with the opening speech by La Inseparable, one of the city's most representative cultural entities.
The musical line-up, which has been revealed over the past few weeks, includes Vanesa Martín, Pignoise, Despistaos, Marlena, and Marlon, along with DJ sessions. Tickets for each concert cost 2 euros, except for Vanesa Martín's, which is priced at 15 euros. Priority sales for residents, with a maximum of four tickets per person, will remain open until August 24 through Giglon. General public sales will begin on August 25.
The Town Hall has also set up an exclusive wristband system for residents, costing 10 euros and including all concerts and DJ sessions for each day. These are limited, personal, and non-transferable, and can be collected at the Espacio Cubo from the second half of August until the day before the festivities begin. The concerts for the 'Indie Night' are yet to be announced, with tickets going on sale at the end of this week.
Events in honour of the Virgin and awards
The Plaza del Padre Vallet and its surroundings will be another major venue. There, religious events will take place, such as the solemn procession on Sunday, September 6, which will depart from the Parish of the Assumption of Our Lady and traverse the town centre, followed by a floral offering and the main mass. On Monday, September 7, the day of the patron saint, the highest awards of the city will be presented in the Patio de Segovia of the Town Hall: the designation of Adopted Son for Jesús Higueras, parish priest of Cana, and the Medals of Merit of the Villa for businessman Enrique Cerezo and the Congregation of Our Lady of Consolation Coronated.
The programme includes parades, discussions, children's shows, and popular gatherings such as the chocolate event, the pancetada, or the tortilla contest, with the collaboration of local clubs and associations. In the town centre, Depol, Nena Daconte, the cuplé artist Olga María Ramos, the flamenco singer Antón Cortés, and the orchestra La Factoría will also perform, with free entry until capacity is reached.
Bus services and bullfighting fair
To facilitate transportation, the Town Hall will launch two free shuttle bus services that will depart every 20 minutes from the San Juan de la Cruz car park and from Camino de las Huertas (EducArte). Additionally, there will be a return home service with three lines: line 1 for the town centre and urbanisations, line 2 for the South Zone, and line 3 for the North Zone, with pick-up only at the fairgrounds stop on Calle Canadá.
The bullfighting fair will take place on Friday, September 11 at 18:30 in the Plaza de las Américas, featuring the maestros Román —who exited through the big door of Las Ventas this year—, Alejandro Mora, and local Álvaro Burdiel, facing bulls from the Valdefresno and El Sierro ranches.
