The Pozuelo de Alarcón Town Hall is preparing the Daniela Kaiser pavilion at Valle de las Cañas to receive a hundred evacuees from the worst fire in the region's history.
The Pozuelo de Alarcón Town Hall activated the protocol this afternoon to accommodate evacuees from the fire that is ravaging the west of the Community of Madrid, already considered the worst in the region's history. The council received the official notice from the General Directorate of Emergencies at noon and has since been working to prepare the Daniela Kaiser pavilion at the Valle de las Cañas sports complex.
The facilities, with a capacity for one hundred people, have air conditioning, sufficient toilets, and showers. The local government is also organizing beds, food, and water in case the fire's progression requires further evacuations from other municipalities.
To assist with this task, personnel from the Municipal Police, the Pozuelo Emergency Service (SEAPA), Civil Protection, and municipal services have been mobilized. The aim is to have everything ready to receive people arriving at any moment.
The emergency has already forced the cancellation of rhythmic gymnastics classes scheduled for this afternoon at the pavilion. Other activities at Valle de las Cañas for the following week, such as summer camps, may also be affected if the facility is ultimately used to house evacuees.
Pozuelo is joining other municipalities in the area, such as Las Rozas and Villaviciosa de Odón, where evacuees have already begun to arrive. The Town Hall apologizes to users of Valle de las Cañas for the inconvenience and assures that it will provide timely updates on possible cancellations as events unfold.
