The Aranjuez City Council has expanded the free WiFi coverage of the Isabel de Farnesio Cultural Centre, which now reaches more than 95% of its public spaces. The initiative also includes new computers for public access.
The Isabel de Farnesio Cultural Centre in Aranjuez has taken a further step in its digitalisation. The City Council has expanded the free WiFi network of the building, which previously only reached the study room and the adult library, and from this week covers the hall and almost all classrooms. In total, more than 95% of the publicly accessible spaces in the centre now have free wireless connectivity.
The initiative, driven by the Department of Technological Development and IT, is in addition to the incorporation of eight new computers for public access in the adult library. These computers allow users to browse the internet, carry out procedures with public administrations, consult information, or access electronic headquarters, so that any resident can have access to a computer when needed.
The area delegate, David Esteban Fernández, highlighted that digital transformation “only makes sense if it translates into useful services for residents.” In his opinion, this initiative expands free internet access in one of the municipal buildings with the highest daily activity and provides citizens with new resources to facilitate learning and electronic procedures.
“We continue to work to ensure that technology helps make Aranjuez a more modern, accessible, and inclusive city,” he stated.
The measure reinforces the work that the centre has been developing since 2024 through the Digital Training Centre, an initiative that has trained over 1,000 people with dozens of free courses and has been recognised by Madrid Aula Digital for its educational work.
With this expansion, the Aranjuez City Council reaffirms its commitment to reducing the digital divide and consolidating the Isabel de Farnesio as a reference space for training, culture, and innovation. The new computers and WiFi coverage are now available during the centre's usual hours, which are Monday to Friday in the morning and afternoon.
