World Heritage Street in Aranjuez will undergo repair and resurfacing works starting August 12, as part of the urban development project surrounding the future La Montaña shopping park.
The Aranjuez City Council has announced that the repair and resurfacing works on World Heritage Street will commence on August 12, as part of the Repair and Completion Project for the Urbanization Works of the La Montaña Sector. The works will take place around the plot where the developer Alerce Iberian Properties is constructing the future shopping park, which is expected to open by the end of this year.
This intervention is part of the collaboration agreement signed between the City Council and the developer, whereby Alerce will carry out the corresponding urbanization works for its plot. The area of action covers the space bounded by World Heritage Street, Ciudad de Toledo, Granada, and the service road of the M-305.
The project, undertaken by Alerce, includes a comprehensive intervention on pavements, sidewalks, bike lanes, and urban infrastructures. In addition to the repair and reinforcement of the pavement, it includes the adaptation of sewage networks, water supply, irrigation, and public lighting, as well as the renewal of signage, urban furniture, and landscaped areas.
Improvements in Mobility and Services
Among the main actions are the rehabilitation of the final stretch of Granada Street before its junction with the M-305 and the reconstruction of the pavement on World Heritage Street in the uphill direction, between the roundabout of the Cultural Landscape of Aranjuez and Ciudad de Toledo Street. A new bike lane and a pedestrian path parallel to the M-305 will also be constructed, sidewalks will be improved, and access to the commercial area will be adapted.
The project includes the repair and modernization of supply and sewage networks, the renewal of public lighting with new light points where necessary, the improvement of the irrigation network, the replacement of affected trees, and the installation of new vertical and horizontal signage to enhance road safety and accessibility.
Schedule for the First Phase
The works planned between August 12 and 28 correspond to the first phase of the intervention, scheduled to coincide with the period of lower traffic intensity. During these weeks, the signage and marking of the work will be carried out, the affected lanes will be closed, and traffic will be reorganized.
This intervention is part of the necessary actions for the future reception of the La Montaña neighbourhood, a further step towards completing the urbanization of the area and improving services for residents and future visitors to the shopping park.
