Aid of up to 10,000 euros for those affected by the Sierra Oeste fires

The Community of Madrid activates a package of aid of up to 10,000 euros for businesses and self-employed individuals in the 17 municipalities affected by the fires, with free guarantees and tax bonuses.

The Community of Madrid has launched a package of measures for the economic recovery of the 17 municipalities in the Sierra Oeste affected by the fires. The Minister of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, visited Valdemaqueda on Wednesday to learn first-hand about the situation of those affected.

Among the main initiatives are direct aid of up to 10,000 euros for businesses and self-employed individuals, with a budget of 15 million euros. In addition, a line of free guarantees has been established, managed through Avalmadrid, to facilitate access to financing.

The regional government has also approved tax bonuses of 100% on inheritance and donation taxes and on onerous property transfers and documented legal acts, applicable to the acquisition of properties and vehicles that replace those destroyed by fire.

Those affected will also benefit from a discount on their water bill. Canal de Isabel II will reduce for one year 80% of the variable part of the supply, sanitation, and reuse tariff, upon request from the corresponding municipality or the affected individual.

These actions are part of a reconstruction plan for the Sierra Oeste that includes immediate and medium- to long-term measures to support municipalities, families, self-employed individuals, and businesses. Aid for damage repair, resources for the recovery of infrastructure and basic municipal services, as well as urgent housing assistance for affected families are also contemplated.

During his visit, García Martín thanked the Local Police and Civil Protection volunteers for their work during the emergency in Santa María de la Alameda. In Zarzalejo, he supervised the operation of the Mobile Citizen Service Office, integrated into the Post-Fire Help Points (PATI). These devices have already assisted 1,905 residents, of whom 1,093 requested information and 455 received psychological support.

Those interested can apply for this aid through the usual channels of the Community of Madrid, with deadlines to be published in the Official Bulletin of the region. The Mobile Office will continue to tour the affected municipalities to facilitate the procedures.
