The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated the yellow alert for tomorrow Friday in Brunete, with maximums of 37 degrees. The warning affects the southern, western and Las Vegas regions.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated the yellow alert for maximum temperatures for this Friday in Brunete. The warning, which will be in effect all day, forecasts that thermometers will reach 37 degrees, a figure that exceeds the usual threshold for this time of year.

The sky will start off very cloudy, but the cloud cover will gradually disappear throughout the morning. During the early hours, storms are not ruled out, although the probability is low. In the afternoon and evening, the weather will remain stable, with no precipitation.

A heatwave tightening in the southwest

Brunete is not the only municipality affected. The yellow alert extends to the southern, western and Las Vegas regions, where temperatures will also approach 38 degrees. According to AEMET, the cause is a mass of warm air from North Africa that has raised temperatures across the Community of Madrid.

For the residents of Brunete, this serves as a warning to take extra precautions, especially during the peak hours of the day. The City Council recommends avoiding going outside between 14:00 and 18:00, staying hydrated frequently, and paying attention to the elderly and children.

Weekend with little respite

Saturday will not offer any relief. The day will start clear, but cloud cover will increase by midday. Maximum temperatures will rise slightly to 38 degrees, while minimums will remain at 21. Light winds from the southeast will blow.

On Sunday, the heat will continue to be a major factor, although with somewhat milder values: between 22 and 36 degrees. The sky will alternate between cloudy and clear intervals, with no chance of rain. The winds, light and from the south, will barely be noticeable.

Practical advice for residents

In light of this situation, the City Council reminds everyone that it is important not to leave anyone inside a parked vehicle, to wear light and light-coloured clothing, and to close the blinds during the sunniest hours. It also recommends maintaining a light diet and avoiding alcoholic beverages.

For those who have to work outdoors, it is advised to take frequent breaks and seek shade. Athletes, on the other hand, should avoid intense exercise during the peak hours of the day.

The yellow alert will remain active until Friday night, but the heat will not relent over the weekend. AEMET forecasts that from Monday, temperatures will begin to decrease slightly, although without significant changes.
