The City Council of Pinto has awarded the prizes of the X Photography Contest of the Renaissance Festival Princess of Éboli. Javier Castro takes the first prize for his work 'Honor and Glory'.

Javier Castro has won the first prize of the photography contest of the Renaissance Festival Princess of Éboli in Pinto, held on June 11, 12, and 13. His work 'Honor and Glory', inspired by the painting 'The Surrender of Breda' by Velázquez, convinced the jury in the tenth edition of the competition.

The winner, who received a special mention last year, has been awarded a diploma and 600 euros. The second prize, worth 400 euros, went to Ernesto Montero for 'Abanderado', and the third prize, of 200 euros, to Adrián Durán for 'When History Opened Its Eyes'.

Record participation in the contest

This year, the contest has recorded its highest participation to date, with 55 people registered and 36 photographs submitted. The jury evaluated the quality and creativity of the works, which capture the essence of the Renaissance festival.

In addition to the three winners, Rocío Sepúlveda, winner of the 2025 edition, received a special mention for her photograph 'Impronta'. The images submitted to the contest can be visited at the Casa de la Cadena in Pinto, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00, until July 17.

An exhibition to relive the festival

The exhibition allows residents and visitors of Pinto to enjoy the best snapshots of the festival, which recreates the era of the Princess of Éboli each year. The photographs reflect both the most emotional moments and the historical details of the celebration.

The Renaissance festival, which is already a classic in Pinto's calendar, attracts hundreds of people every year. Being able to see it through the eyes of local photographers is a luxury, and the images displayed at the Casa de la Cadena demonstrate this.

Those interested can also consult the complete album of photographs on the City Council's Flickr page. The exhibition will be open until July 17, so there is still time to visit the Casa de la Cadena and take a look at these works.
