The Mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, has overseen the renovation works on Paseo de Goya, which include the replacement of curbs and the widening of sidewalks to gain pedestrian space.
The Móstoles City Council continues with the renovation works on Paseo de Goya, an initiative aimed at making the neighbourhood more accessible and safe for residents. The mayor, Manuel Bautista, accompanied by the councillor for Urban Planning, Housing, Heritage, and City Maintenance, Sergio Soler, and the councillor president of District Board 2 North-University, Mª Ángeles Gómez, visited the area this week to check on the progress of the works.
The works focus on the intersection of Paseo de Goya with Calle Salcillo, where the curbs of the landscaped roundabout are being replaced and the sidewalk area on the even-numbered side is being expanded. The aim is to create wider and more comfortable pedestrian pathways, compliant with current accessibility regulations.
At the intersection with Calle Miguel Ángel, workers will demolish the old waste container platform to gain space for pedestrian traffic and create two parking spaces in a row. Additionally, the pavements of the sidewalk on Paseo de Goya in that area will be renewed.
These works are in addition to those previously carried out, which included the adaptation of pedestrian crossings at the junction with Calle Salcillo, featuring tactile-visual pavement, with relief and contrasting colours, designed to guide visually impaired individuals. The pavements and curbs on the even-numbered side were also renewed, from the intersection with Calle Salcillo to number 28.
The mayor highlighted that "with these actions we improve the quality of life for residents, making Móstoles a more accessible city, creating safe and more pleasant environments to live in."
The works are part of a municipal plan to improve streets and public spaces promoted by the Department of Urban Planning, Housing, Heritage, and City Maintenance. The works are expected to be completed in the coming weeks, enhancing the daily life of residents in the neighbourhood and those passing through this area.
