The Getafe City Council has granted the license for the Community of Madrid to carry out the works for the parking at Los Ángeles school, after decades of local demands regarding mud problems and access.
This week, the Getafe City Council has granted the urban planning license that allows the Community of Madrid to begin the adaptation works for the parking area near Los Ángeles school. This is a long-demanded action by the families of the school, who suffer from mud issues and inadequate access every time it rains.
The land where the work will take place is owned by the Community of Madrid, through the public company Planifica Madrid (formerly Arpegio), so the Getafe City Council did not have direct authority over the land. However, the City Council has led efforts to unblock the project, holding joint working meetings with the regional government.
The granting of the license has not been a straightforward process. In recent weeks, the City Council has made multiple requests to ensure that the final project complies with urban planning and accessibility regulations, correcting defects presented by the Community of Madrid. Environmental protection and the preservation of existing trees on the site have also been ensured.
Meanwhile, the City Council has already executed, within its powers, the paving of the access to the school and APANID from the A-42. This work, which involved an investment of over 100,000 euros, has significantly improved accessibility to the area, while waiting for the regional government to complete the work on the parking.
The families of Los Ángeles school hope that the works will begin as soon as possible and be completed before the start of the new school year. This way, the inconveniences that occur every year with the rains, when mud and poor access hinder entry and exit from the center, would be avoided.
The Getafe City Council reminds that, despite not having authority over the land, it has been the main driver of this solution, pressuring the Community of Madrid to take action. Now, with the license in hand, the regional government has the green light to start the work.
