The Aranjuez City Council has tendered the rental supply of an SUV/off-road vehicle intended for the Civil Protection Service, with a budget of €86,400 for four years.
The Aranjuez City Council has launched a new public tender for the rental of an SUV or off-road vehicle that will be allocated to the local Civil Protection Service. The base tender budget amounts to €86,400, and the contract will last for four years, according to information published on the State Contracting Platform.
The deadline for submitting bids ended on July 21 at 23:59, so the process is now in the evaluation phase of the proposals received. The aim is to equip Civil Protection with a new, fitted and marked vehicle that will enhance the response capacity to emergencies and adverse situations in the municipality.
The technical specifications detail that the vehicle will be used in emergency interventions, support in disasters and adverse weather events, mobilization of volunteers and teams, access to rural roads, floods, strong winds, snowfalls or risk scenarios, as well as for the transport of materials and signage.
The contract includes comprehensive maintenance, all-risk insurance without excess, replacement in case of breakdown, ITV and emergency equipment. The delivery period for the vehicle will be a maximum of 90 calendar days from the formalization of the contract, which is expected in the coming weeks.
Jesús Mario Blasco, spokesperson for the Independent Citizens' Group for Aranjuez, has positively assessed the initiative. "We think it's great news that more resources are being provided to those groups that ensure safety and protection against adversities in our locality," he noted. Blasco added that he hopes "the deadlines are met and the best of the received offers is awarded... and although it may seem contradictory... we hope it won't have to be used often."
The independent spokesperson has also urged the government team to continue along this line: "We hope this is the first of more tenders to provide more resources to the state security forces and bodies. Now that our government has a new budget... it is time to see if the announced benefits translate into reality and we hope it serves to equip our local police with more motorized means to monitor and patrol our streets," he stated.
The new Civil Protection vehicle will allow volunteers to move more safely and effectively through difficult terrains, especially during periods of heavy rain or snowfall, which have affected several areas of the municipality in recent years. The rental acquisition avoids a high initial outlay and guarantees ongoing maintenance during the four-year contract.
No additional statements have been made by the Aranjuez City Council regarding the awarding process, although municipal sources confirmed that work is underway to evaluate the offers to resolve the tender as soon as possible.
For the residents of Aranjuez, this provision represents an improvement in the response capacity to emergencies, as Civil Protection will have a specific vehicle to access hard-to-reach areas, such as rural roads or flooded areas. The service, composed of volunteers, carries out prevention and intervention tasks in weather incidents, traffic accidents and other risk situations.
The investment of €86,400 over four years represents an annual cost of €21,600, which includes all maintenance, insurance and equipment expenses. The contract is part of the municipal budget for 2026, which includes allocations for security and emergencies.
