The Móstoles Plenary has given the green light to a budget modification of 2.36 million euros to finance new investments and strengthen priority actions in the city.
The Móstoles Plenary approved this Thursday, in an extraordinary session, a credit modification amounting to €2,364,126.75 that will allow resources to be injected into several departments and advance strategic projects for the city. The proposal was passed with votes in favour from the Popular Municipal Group and the non-attached councillor, while Vox, Más Madrid Móstoles, and PSOE voted against. Más Madrid abstained in one of the votes, according to municipal sources.
The total amount is divided into two parts: €1,598,626.75 corresponds to a credit supplement, and the remaining €765,500 to an extraordinary credit. The funds will be allocated to the areas of Urban Planning, Housing, Heritage and City Maintenance; Youth, Family, Equality and Cooperation; Economy, Industry, Employment, Development and Tourism Promotion; and Mobility, Transport, Consumption and Festivities.
Additionally, the plenary agreed to raise the maximum limits for future multi-year expenditure to undertake four major projects. Among them, the rehabilitation and construction of changing rooms, stands, and an athletics track at the Andrés Torrejón sports centre, the construction of a new sports pavilion on Nueva York Street, the creation of football-7 pitches in PAU-4, and the enclosure of the terrace at the La Princesa Senior Centre.
The Councillor for Finance, who defended the proposal, emphasised that this budget modification responds to the need to “strengthen public services and advance investments demanded by residents.” He explained that these are actions that were pending and can now be executed thanks to the availability of treasury surpluses.
For their part, opposition groups criticised the management of the governing team. Vox pointed out that “the real needs of the people of Móstoles are not prioritised,” while Más Madrid Móstoles questioned the lack of transparency in the allocation of funds. PSOE, which voted against in all votes, denounced that “resources are allocated to non-urgent projects while social budgets are neglected.”
The Andrés Torrejón sports centre is one of the oldest facilities in the city, and its renovation has been a long-standing demand from local sports clubs. The works will include the renovation of changing rooms, the expansion of stands, and the improvement of the athletics track, which is currently in poor condition. The new sports pavilion on Nueva York Street will serve an expanding area of the municipality, where new housing developments have been built in recent years.
In PAU-4, the football-7 pitches will add to the sports offerings in a neighbourhood that lacks such facilities. The enclosure of the terrace at the La Princesa Senior Centre will allow users to enjoy the outdoor space year-round, improving their quality of life.
The credit modification is financed from the treasury surplus of the previous year, as stated in the file. The governing team hopes that the works can be tendered before the end of the year and executed throughout 2027.
Residents of the affected areas will be able to consult the timelines and details of each project on the Móstoles City Council website, where updated information will be published as administrative procedures progress.
