The Tres Cantos City Council has launched an improvement plan for the dog areas in the municipality, which includes new fountains, signage, and furniture. The works are carried out in summer to minimise disturbances.

The dog areas in Tres Cantos are getting new equipment. The City Council has initiated a maintenance and improvement plan during the summer months, when user attendance is lower. The actions include new dog fountains, renewal of signage, review of urban furniture, lighting, and perimeter fencing, as well as pruning and conditioning of the sand.

Improvements in Central Park, the Most Used Area

The dog area in Central Park, the most used in the municipality, has received special attention. New picnic tables and umbrellas have been installed there to make the owners' stay more comfortable. These improvements add to those made last year, when a double access door and a separating fence between the recreation area and the agility circuit were incorporated.

The Councillor for Public Services, Pedro Fernández, explained that "we take advantage of the summer months to carry out more intensive improvement actions in the dog areas, thus minimising disturbances to users. Moreover, we have prioritised those requests that have been communicated to us by the residents."

"We have prioritised those requests that have been communicated to us by the residents, as they are the ones who regularly use these spaces," stated Councillor Pedro Fernández.

Actions in the Park of the Seven Leagues

In the dog area of the Park of the Seven Leagues, the focus will be on pruning to remove branches that have grown over the past year and could pose a risk. The furniture and shade elements will also be reviewed. These tasks are part of the network of dog areas that Tres Cantos has distributed throughout various points in the city, spaces increasingly used by residents.

The City Council continues to study new actions to expand and strengthen the network, aiming to provide safe, accessible, and suitable spaces for owners and their pets.

Special Summer Hours for Off-Leash Dogs

Coinciding with the summer period, the City Council reminds that during the summer months, dogs —except those considered potentially dangerous— can be off-leash between 10:00 PM and 10:00 AM, always accompanied by a responsible person, in the designated areas. This special schedule applies in Antonio López Park, the park between numbers 8, 25, and 31 of the Pueblos Sector, the parks in the Foresta, Islas, and Embarcaciones sectors, and the semi-forest area of Central Park, excluding the sections of the bike lane that cross this park from the petanque area to the limit with Caléndula Street.

Additionally, dogs can remain unrestricted in the recreational areas of the North, South, and East parks, in the two fenced dog areas of Central Park —next to Enebro Street and behind the Gabriel Parellada Sports Centre—, as well as in the agility areas of Central Park and the Park of the Seven Leagues. Residents of Tres Cantos can enjoy these improvements from now on, with the peace of mind that the City Council continues to work to make walks with their pets more enjoyable.
