Mayor Jesús Moreno has contacted the Department of Environment and ASEM112 to make security personnel, emergency accommodations, and logistical support available.
The City Council of Tres Cantos has made itself available to the Community of Madrid to assist in extinguishing the wildfires ravaging the region. Mayor Jesús Moreno contacted the Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Interior, Carlos Novillo, this Thursday to offer the municipality's resources.
Among the resources that Tres Cantos is providing to the Advanced Command Post and the Madrid Security and Emergency Agency 112 (ASEM112) are Local Police personnel, the Civil Protection group, municipal spaces for emergency accommodations, and logistical support for extinguishing efforts and assistance to those affected.
“In emergency situations like this, inter-administrative coordination and support between municipalities is essential. I have contacted the minister to make the resources of Tres Cantos available to him, from our security forces to logistical and reception space,” Moreno stated.
The mayor emphasized that the municipality is prepared to activate assistance as soon as the operational command determines it is necessary. “We are ready to activate assistance at the precise moment the operational command determines it can be useful,” he added.
The offer from Tres Cantos is part of the reinforcement of the INFOMA Plan, the regional device for combating wildfires. The Community of Madrid has several active hotspots in the mountains and the metropolitan west, which have necessitated the deployment of numerous personnel.
In addition to operational resources, the Tres Cantos City Council has activated constant monitoring of environmental indices in the locality. Through official municipal channels, residents will be informed about air quality and health or prevention recommendations in the event of possible smoke or odours from the fires.
The City Council has also conveyed a message of encouragement and recognition to all the firefighting, security, and emergency personnel involved in the operation. “From the City Council of Tres Cantos, we are monitoring the evolution of the fires and extending our support to those working tirelessly,” municipal sources have stated.
For the residents of Tres Cantos, the main recommendation is to stay informed through official channels and follow the authorities' instructions in case air quality worsens. So far, no serious incidents have been reported in the municipality, but the alert remains in place.
