The municipal libraries of Tres Cantos propose a selection of readings for all ages with the guides 'Summer Books' and 'Ola de Libros', as well as extending loans to 45 days.
The municipal libraries of Tres Cantos have launched their summer campaign 'Refreshing Reads', a selection of literary recommendations aimed at all ages, from children aged 3 to adults. The initiative seeks to maintain the reading habit during the holidays.
The Councillor for Culture, Elisa Lidia Miguel, explained that the goal is for the libraries to continue being a cultural reference in the summer and encouraged residents to take advantage of the available resources. “Reading is an excellent way to enjoy free time,” she noted.
Age Guides
The main proposal is Summer Books, aimed at Secondary and Baccalaureate students, featuring titles of novels, comics, and graphic narratives classified by age groups (+12, +14, and +16 years). It includes genres such as adventure, fantasy, mystery, science fiction, historical novels, and contemporary narratives.
For the youngest, aged 3 to 12 years, Ola de Libros has been prepared, with recommendations tailored to each reading stage. Both guides incorporate QR codes and direct links to the municipal libraries' catalogue to check the availability of each item.
“We want the municipal libraries of Tres Cantos to continue being a cultural reference even in summer,” highlighted the Councillor for Culture.
Additionally, the network of libraries renews its recommendations monthly for adults, teenagers, and children, which include comics, digital books, reading guides, and media library content. All information is available on the public libraries' website.
Extended Loans and Hours
During the summer, and until the next 15th of August, the loan period for books has been extended to 45 days, compared to the usual 30. Users can borrow up to six books, six CDs or films for 15 days, and three magazines in the same period.
This month, only the Lope de Vega Library will remain open, with morning service until the 16th of August. The Caja Madrid Foundation Library will close its doors until the 30th of August.
