The City Council and the Fuentesanta Residents' Association sign an agreement to preserve pétanque, rana, and caps, with a space in the park on Calle del Pilar.

The town of San Sebastián de los Reyes will have a dedicated space for traditional games thanks to the agreement signed between the City Council and the Fuentesanta Residents' Association. The agreement, with an initial duration of two years extendable for another two, aims to recover, conserve, and promote a playful heritage that is part of the municipality's identity.

The project includes the creation of a public space in the park on Calle del Pilar where residents of all ages can practice games such as pétanque, rana, bowling, caps, or marbles. The initiative aims to encourage interaction between generations and the transmission of these traditions to younger people.

Additionally, the program includes an exhibition on the evolution of traditional games, a workshop for the recovery and restoration of historical materials, and the annual celebration of the 'Nuestros Mayores' gala, an event to honour the elderly in the municipality to recognise their contributions and combat unwanted loneliness.

The City Council will provide an annual grant of 2,400 euros, funded through the Departments of Culture and Seniors, and will facilitate the use of municipal facilities, exhibition spaces, and workshops for the manufacturing and conservation of the items used. The dissemination of activities will be managed through municipal communication channels.

The residents' association, for its part, will be responsible for energising the activities and ensuring citizen participation. The agreement thus strengthens the role of community entities in the cultural life of San Sebastián de los Reyes, a municipality that is committed to preserving its intangible heritage through public-social collaboration.

The launch of the space in the park on Calle del Pilar is expected in the coming months, once the logistical and equipment details are defined. Interested parties can check the dates of the activities through the official channels of the City Council.
