The City Council of San Sebastián de los Reyes will publish the programme for the Fiestas del Cristo de los Remedios with pictograms and accessibility data on August 10, following the success of Christmas.
This year, the Fiestas in honour of the Most Holy Christ of the Remedies in San Sebastián de los Reyes will feature, for the first time, a programme in an accessible format using pictograms. The initiative, driven by the City Council, will allow citizens to quickly identify which activities have reserved space for reduced mobility, whether the stage or venue is accessible, or if there will be fireworks or high noise levels.
The new icon system will facilitate the participation of people with disabilities or specific needs, such as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This measure is being implemented after the positive reception of the pilot experience during the Christmas programme, which was created with easy reading and pictograms.
On that occasion, the City Council collaborated with the DACER, APADIS, and ConecTEA foundations, the NYMO Centre, the Local Police, and Civil Protection. The council has decided to repeat and expand the initiative for the patronal festivals, reinforcing its commitment to a more inclusive city where leisure and participation are accessible to all.
The accessible programme will be available from August 10 in digital format, through the municipal website. It can be consulted both on the official website and via the link provided for the pictogram programme, where residents can download the document and plan their attendance at the events.
With this measure, San Sebastián de los Reyes is anticipating the needs of a sector of the population that often encounters barriers at festive events. Inclusion in leisure activities is a growing demand, and the municipality responds with a practical and visual tool that also serves as a guide for families with children with autism or individuals with reduced mobility.
