The Plaza de la Constitución will host the III edition of Folklóricas on August 22 and 23, featuring artists such as Mercedes Peón and Omiri. Admission will be free.
The Plaza de la Constitución in San Sebastián de los Reyes will once again be the stage for Folklóricas, the festival that brings together national and international artists around new root music. The third edition will take place on August 22 and 23, with free access for all.
The event, sponsored by Música Creativa, offers a journey through the various ways folk interacts with electronics, improvisation, and contemporary composition. Over two nights, the plaza will host proposals that reinterpret tradition through innovation and sound experimentation.
On Saturday, August 22, the Portuguese Omiri will open at 21:00, with an audiovisual show that combines recordings of popular Portuguese musicians with live electronic beats. At 23:00, the Galician Mercedes Peón will follow, presenting 'Ingrávida', a concert featuring a female ensemble of up to 17 artists, including the Pandereteiras Raigañas and Xirifeiras, Mónica de Nut, and Ana Fernández.
On Sunday, August 23, the day will kick off at 21:00 with Delameseta, the Valladolid duo that fuses electronics, urban rhythms, and Castilian and Leonese folklore, using tambourines, synthesizers, and traditional dance. At 22:30, it will be the turn of Ethno Spain, returning after the success of previous editions with 'Raíces sin fronteras', a show that will bring together around thirty young musicians from more than fifteen countries.
These artists will have spent ten days in an artistic residency at the Monastery of Uclés before taking the stage in San Sebastián de los Reyes. The festival thus aims to connect generations and demonstrate that tradition can still evoke emotions and bring life to spaces of collective celebration.
