The athlete from Club Hankuk International School, based in San Sebastián de los Reyes, has been selected by the Spanish Olympic Committee. The event will take place in the Italian city from 21 August to 3 September.
Taekwondo athlete Jesús Fraile from Club Hankuk International School in San Sebastián de los Reyes has been called up by the Spanish Olympic Committee to represent Spain at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto. The taekwondo competition will take place on 22 and 23 August at the Giovanni Paolo II Sport Hall, featuring some of the best athletes from the Mediterranean basin.
This selection marks a significant boost for Fraile's career, as he is one of the young talents in national taekwondo. Among his recent achievements is the silver medal at the Wuxi Grand Slam, which has allowed him to continue climbing the ranks in the international circuit and keep his Olympic dreams alive for the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 cycle.
The athlete trains daily under the supervision of Jesús Ramal and Suvi Mikkonen, sharing the tatami with world-class figures such as Adriana Cerezo, Luana Márton, and Viviana Márton. In statements to the club's official podcast, Casa Hankuk, Fraile highlighted the value of this environment:
“It’s a champion's atmosphere, about pushing limits and a feedback loop for everyone to see that others can also succeed.”
Participation in Taranto 2026 will be a new opportunity for the taekwondo athlete from San Sebastián de los Reyes to showcase his skills in a top-level international competition. The event, which will be held from 21 August to 3 September, will bring together athletes from over 20 Mediterranean countries.
