The San Sebastián de los Reyes Town Hall has approved an extension of the loading and unloading hours, increasing them from three to six hours, in response to demands from the transport and commerce sectors.

From this month, transporters and traders in San Sebastián de los Reyes will have six consecutive hours to carry out loading and unloading operations throughout the municipality. The Town Hall has approved a modification that extends the general hours from 08:00 to 11:00 to the new period of 08:00 to 14:00, doubling the allowed time.

The measure, which is already in effect, affects all areas of the municipality, including the urban centre, industrial estates, and regulated parking areas. According to municipal sources, the decision responds to a long-standing demand from the transport and local commerce sectors, which considered the previous hours insufficient to meet supply needs.

The previous hours, established in 2011, had become outdated due to urban, commercial, and mobility developments in the municipality. Municipal technical reports concluded that the three-hour period was inadequate, especially in areas with a higher concentration of commercial and service activity. Both the Local Police and the Mobility technical services have issued favourable reports for the extension.

With this extension, the Town Council aims to reduce incidents arising from the existing time limitations and promote better planning of delivery routes. Transporters will be able to organise their deliveries with greater flexibility, which will also improve the supply of local businesses.

However, the new regime maintains the possibility of establishing specific extensions or restrictions when the characteristics of the environment, traffic intensity, or type of activity warrant it, always with the corresponding technical justification. Exceptional authorisations for loading and unloading operations will continue to be processed individually according to municipal regulations.

The measure has been well received by traders in San Sebastián de los Reyes, who see it as a boost for local economic activity. From the municipality's Traders Association, they positively assess the flexibility it brings, although they remind that it is necessary to continue working on improving mobility in the urban centre.

The Town Hall has reminded that the regulations will be applied progressively and that controls will be carried out to ensure compliance. Drivers must respect the designated areas and established hours, under penalty in case of infringement.

With this decision, San Sebastián de los Reyes joins other municipalities in the Community of Madrid that have extended their loading and unloading hours to adapt to the needs of commerce and logistics. The measure is part of a broader plan to improve mobility and support the local business fabric.
