The Alcobendas City Council has awarded the project to build 39 rental homes on Diego Salmerón Street, using industrialised construction systems with wood and aerothermal energy.

The Alcobendas City Council has awarded the contract to draft the project and construct a new development of 39 public rental homes at Diego Salmerón Street, 4. This initiative is part of the municipal Housing Plan, which aims to create around 10,000 new homes in the city over the next decade.

Homes for all needs

The development will include eight one-bedroom homes, 23 two-bedroom homes (two of which will be adapted for people with reduced mobility), six three-bedroom homes, and two four-bedroom homes. All will feature covered terraces and drying areas.

Additionally, the complex will have communal spaces such as lounge and play areas, a swimming pool, and a solarium, designed to promote community living and the well-being of future residents.

Sustainable and efficient construction

One of the most notable innovations is the use of industrialised wood construction, a system that allows for shorter execution times, optimised costs, and reduced waste generation. According to the City Council, the building will have a carbon footprint 55% lower than that of a traditional concrete construction.

The project also incorporates high energy efficiency standards: high-performance thermal envelope, heat recovery ventilation, and centralised aerothermal climate control. All of this will reduce energy consumption and improve tenant comfort.

Next steps

The City Council has informed that when the call for participation in the lottery for these homes opens, it will be communicated through municipal media. Interested parties should stay alert for the guidelines, which will establish the access requirements.

Access to affordable housing is a priority for this government team, and with this development, we are taking another step towards making it a reality, stated the Housing Councillor.

For the residents of Alcobendas, this development represents an opportunity to access quality housing with affordable rent in a sustainable environment. Construction is expected to begin in the coming months, once the executive project has been drafted.
