The Alcobendas City Council has awarded the design and construction of 39 affordable public rental flats on Diego Salmerón street, featuring a communal pool and an industrialised wooden system.
The Alcobendas City Council has given the green light to a new development of 39 affordable public rental flats to be built at number 4 on Diego Salmerón street. The project is part of an ambitious local strategy that aims to construct around 10,000 homes in the next decade.
Distribution of the flats and common areas
The flats will offer various types to accommodate different households: 8 one-bedroom, 23 two-bedroom (two of which are adapted for people with reduced mobility), 6 three-bedroom and 2 four-bedroom flats. All homes will include a covered terrace and drying area.
The common areas will feature children's play areas, a communal pool and solarium, an added benefit designed for residents to enjoy during the warmer months. The pool will be an attraction for families seeking quality of life without leaving the municipality.
Industrialised and sustainable construction
The major technical innovation is the use of an industrialised wooden system, which allows for faster assembly, reduces costs, and minimises disturbances and waste on site. According to the City Council, this method reduces the carbon footprint by 55% compared to traditional concrete buildings.
To save on future tenants' energy bills, the building will feature high-quality thermal insulation, efficient ventilation, and centralised aerothermal heating. A system that, according to municipal sources, will sustainably and economically maintain temperature.
How and when to apply?
The City Council has announced that details of the public draw to apply for these rentals will be announced soon through official channels. Interested parties should keep an eye on the municipal website and the City Council's social media to avoid missing the registration deadline.
This promotion adds to other recent affordable housing initiatives in Alcobendas, such as the flats already delivered on Avenida de España, the draw on Doctor Ángel Olivares street, or the 41 homes on Marqués de la Valdavia street, whose construction will begin this autumn. For residents who have been waiting for years for an affordable rental opportunity, this news represents a breath of fresh air in an increasingly strained market.
