The San Cayetano festivities will fill the Centro district from August 4 to 7 with free concerts, traditional fairs, and cultural events. The opening speech will be given by SAMUR-Civil Protection.
The La Latina neighbourhood will once again dress up for the festivities in the first week of August. The San Cayetano 2026 celebrations will kick off on Tuesday, August 4, and will run until Friday, August 7, featuring a programme that will turn the area around the Plaza del General Vara del Rey, the Ribera de Curtidores, and the Plaza del Cascorro into the epicentre of Madrid's traditional culture.
The official opening will take place on Tuesday, August 4, at 19:30 with a display of Giants and Bigheads in the Plaza del General Vara del Rey. This year's opening speech will be delivered by representatives of SAMUR-Civil Protection, recognising the work of these professionals and volunteers throughout the year.
Concerts and fairs every night
Music will take centre stage during the San Cayetano nights with a lineup that combines established artists and new talents. On Tuesday, Raya Real and The Zona Rock Band will perform, while Jarana and La Fiesta will take the stage on Wednesday. On Thursday, Soleá Morente and Rata By Vibra Mahou will perform, and on Friday, Montoya & Carmona will close the event with 'La Juerga Flamenca' and the winner of the 'Destino San Cayetano 2026' contest.
The fairs will continue into the early hours with DJ sessions at both stages. On Friday, the final day, music will last until 2:00 AM, with DJ Madent and DJ Sebas bringing the four days of celebration to a close.
In the afternoons, the programme includes traditional shows such as 'Chulapa', featuring Amanda Verdú, and 'Corrala de Zarzuela', as well as a performance by the Tuna de Medicina from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid on Calle del Oso, organised by local residents.
How to get to the festivities
The main stages are located near the Rastro, just a few minutes' walk from each other. The nearest metro stations are La Latina (Line 5) and Lavapiés (Line 3). You can also reach the area by various urban bus lines or by using the public bicycle service BiciMAD.
The City Council has prepared a programme with activities for all ages and religious events, aiming to maintain the traditional spirit of a festival that every year brings together thousands of Madrileños and visitors in neighbourhoods such as Embajadores, El Rastro, and La Latina.
