Real Madrid has begun pre-season 2026/27 on Monday with medical check-ups for eleven first-team players at the Blua Sanitas Valdebebas Hospital, under the supervision of José Mourinho and the new head of medical services, Alexandre Creuzé.

The Real Madrid has launched the 2026/27 season. On Monday, eleven players from the first team underwent a medical check-up at the Blua Sanitas Valdebebas Hospital and at the Ciudad Real Madrid, marking the start of pre-season under the orders of José Mourinho.

The Portuguese coach, who has been planning the work for weeks, has called up players who did not participate in the World Cup or who have already been eliminated. The aim is to assess each player's physical condition and start building the team for the upcoming season.

The eleven available and the injured

The list of players who attended the medical tests includes Lunin, Trent, Carreras, Huijsen, Asencio, Camavinga, Gonzalo, and Mastantuono. All of them are in good condition and will be the foundation on which Mourinho will work in the first days until the internationals join.

Additionally, the players who are dealing with injuries have also reported: Militao, Rodrygo, and Mendy. The three will undergo specific training both on the pitch and in the gym, each with their own recovery timelines. The club is hopeful that they will be ready for the start of the official competition.

The supervision of Alexandre Creuzé

One of the new features of this pre-season is the presence of Alexandre Creuzé, who has just arrived from Monaco and is considered an expert in sports medicine. The specialist will oversee all examinations and recovery programmes for the injured players, bringing his experience to the coaching staff.

Mourinho has positively assessed the start: “Obviously, I would like to have all the players here. We have to look at it positively, which is to get to know the guys I will be working with and for them to have the opportunity to get to know me.” The coach has also indicated that the group will be completed with players from Castilla.

This afternoon, the eleven players will have their first training session of the pre-season at the Ciudad Real Madrid. It will be a light session, focused on recovery after the medical tests, but already with the ball and under the intensity that characterises the Portuguese coach.

For Real Madrid fans, this is the first step of an exciting project. The key players in the dressing room, such as the internationals still involved in the World Cup, will gradually join. In the meantime, the eleven chosen will have the opportunity to prove to Mourinho that they can earn a spot in the starting eleven.

The club hopes that, with the arrival of Creuzé and Mourinho's planning, injuries will be reduced and the team will be in top condition for the crucial moments of the season. Fans, for their part, are already dreaming of the titles that may come.
