Cibeles Square is preparing to welcome thousands of fans this Monday for the celebration of the Spanish football team's World Cup title. The City Council of Madrid and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have organised an event that will kick off at 18:00 with free access, featuring a luxury lineup led by Aitana, Arde Bogotá, Ana Mena and Lola Índigo.
A luxury lineup for a historic night
The party will begin with sets from DJs Barce, Álex Martini and DJ Pawly, who will warm up the atmosphere until 19:00. At that time, the group Arde Bogotá will take the stage to perform, among other songs, 'Los perros', a track that became an unofficial anthem during the Euro 2024. The team has reminded its followers on social media that "they let the dogs out for us in the Euro and it brought us luck. They let them out again in this World Cup and we repeated our good results."
The highlight will come with Aitana, whose song 'Superestrella' has played at every victory of the tournament and has become the unofficial anthem of La Roja in this World Cup. The artist previously performed at the Euro 2024 celebration at the same Cibeles stage, so she is repeating the experience with the champions. Alongside her, Ana Mena, Lola Índigo and Viva Suecia complete a lineup that promises to make the whole city dance.
The RFEF has confirmed that access to the square will be free until capacity is reached, and recommends arriving early to avoid crowds. The event is expected to last until after eleven at night, with staggered performances. Attendees will be able to follow the party live on the giant screens set up in the square and through RTVE's broadcast.
Madrid, the epicentre of the World Cup celebration
The capital has rallied behind the team since they landed in Barajas this Sunday. The delegation paraded through the streets of Madrid on a convertible bus among thousands of fans chanting '¡Campeones del mundo!'. The Mayor of Madrid, Ana Botella, has stated that "it is a pride for the city to host the celebration of these sports heroes who have taught us a lesson in play and teamwork."
The celebration in Cibeles will be the crowning glory of a festive day that has brought the city to a standstill. Shops in the city centre have closed earlier than usual, and the City Council has reinforced Metro and bus services to facilitate the movement of attendees.
