The Móstoles City Council has organised five free activities at Finca Liana for families with children aged six and over to discover the environment in a playful way.
The Department of Security, Emergencies and Environment of Móstoles has prepared a special programme of family workshops starting this Monday, July 20. Under the theme of environmental education, the proposals include everything from birdwatching to an escape room to save the planet. All activities are free and will take place at the Finca Liana Environmental Education Centre from 10:00 to 12:00 hours.
Creatures, forests and climate: the plan for each day
This Monday, July 20, participants will dive into "Creatures and other inhabitants of the garden". The activity teaches how to identify the animals that live in gardens, both those that help produce food and those that naturally control pests. The instructors will explain the role of insects, worms, and small mammals in the ecosystem.
On Tuesday, July 21, "Treasure Hunt: the guardians of the forest" arrives. Attendees will connect with the secret life of the forest through games such as the compass rose, the search for hidden animals, or the trail of butterflies. They will also explore the scents of the forest in a sensory dynamic designed to awaken the curiosity of the little ones.
On Wednesday, July 22, the heat will be the star of "Treasure Hunt: get wet for the climate". Children and their families will discover good habits to survive high temperatures while playing and refreshing themselves. A fun way to learn about climate change and the importance of caring for the environment.
Escape room and urban birds to close the week
On Thursday, July 23, the star activity is "Escape room: let's save the planet". Teams will need to solve puzzles to protect the environment, using their imagination to give a second life to objects that are no longer used. Organisers highlight that it is a collaborative experience where ingenuity and teamwork are key.
On Friday, July 24, the week concludes with "City Birds". With binoculars in hand, participants will observe the species that inhabit the parks of Móstoles and learn to differentiate their feathers, beaks, and legs. The adaptation of these birds to urban life will also be addressed, a phenomenon increasingly studied by biologists.
According to municipal sources, all activities are aimed at families with children aged six and over, with at least one adult required to accompany minors. No prior registration is necessary, although space is limited. The City Council recommends arriving early to secure a spot.
This initiative is part of the council's environmental education programme, which aims to bring nature closer to the residents of Móstoles and promote sustainable habits. Finca Liana, a green space of 12 hectares, thus becomes an outdoor classroom throughout the summer.
