The Alcalá de Henares City Council has opened the application period for financial aid aimed at promoting the personal autonomy of elderly, dependent or disabled individuals. The call, endowed with €65,000, ends on July 31.

Residents of Alcalá de Henares with at least one year of registration can apply from today for municipal aid to promote personal autonomy. The deadline concludes on July 31 and the total budget is €65,000.

New subsidised products

The Councillor for Social Services, Isabel Ruiz Maldonado, explained that this aid allows for the purchase of support products and home adaptations. Among the new features of this call are lift chairs, home automation systems, adapted taps, and accessible communication software.

“We want to facilitate the permanence of individuals in their usual environment and prevent unnecessary admissions,” the councillor stated. The aid is granted on a basis of individualised assessment, according to the needs of each applicant.

Requirements and improvements in economic limits

Those who can prove a situation of dependency, disability, or needs associated with aging will be eligible for these grants. Additionally, the economic limits have been increased in all brackets to broaden access. Eligible expenses must have been incurred between September 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026.

The City Council reminds that the goal is to improve the quality of life, mobility, and safety of the beneficiaries. The call is part of the municipal social care strategy, which aims to avoid unnecessary institutionalisation.

How to apply for the aid

Applications can be submitted at the Alcalá de Henares City Council registry or electronically. It is necessary to attach documentation proving registration, income, and the situation of dependency or disability. For more information, interested parties can contact the Department of Social Services.

“With this aid, we take a step further so that elderly and disabled individuals can live more autonomously in their homes,” Ruiz Maldonado valued.

The measure provides relief for many families in Alcalá, who will be able to adapt their homes without bearing the entire cost. However, it is advisable to hurry: the deadline expires in just two months and the budget is limited.
