CR Majadahonda will compete once again in Division of Honour B, placed in a group C of eight teams that includes newcomers CR Cisneros Z, relegated, and CAR Cáceres, promoted.
The Rugby Club Majadahonda already knows the schedule for its ninth consecutive season in Division of Honour B. The Madrid team will be part of a group C made up of eight teams, with hardly any changes from the previous season. The competition will kick off on the last weekend of September and will consist of a regular league with a double round of fourteen matchdays.
The main newcomers in the group are CR Cisneros Z, which arrives after its relegation from a higher category, and CAR Cáceres, which has just been promoted. The other rivals were already known: CAR Sevilla, CR Alcalá, Soto del Real RC and Alcobendas Rugby B, in addition to Majadahonda itself.
After the first phase, the top three teams will advance to a second phase for promotion, while the rest will fight for survival in a single round league. One of the new features this season is that the teams reaching the Promotion Group will start from zero in terms of points, while those fighting to avoid relegation will retain the results obtained in the first phase.
The promotion to DHB Elite will be decided among the ten teams competing in the second phase. The top four teams will qualify for a final playoff, from which the team that manages to move up a category will emerge. At the bottom, the last-placed team in group C will be relegated directly, and the second last will have a chance in a promotion playoff against rivals from other groups.
All this is happening in a context of changes for Division of Honour B. The proposed restructuring contemplates moving from the current four geographical groups of eight teams (32 in total) to two groups of twelve, which would reduce the category to 24 participants. For the 2028-2029 season, the expected number is 20 teams.
CR Majadahonda, which has accumulated eight consecutive seasons in the category, is already working on assembling the squad with which it will face its ninth year in Division of Honour B. The club hopes to repeat or improve upon the results of previous campaigns, in which it has managed to establish itself in the bronze category of Spanish rugby.
For rugby fans in Majadahonda and the western area of Madrid, the season promises intense emotions, with the possibility of seeing their team fight for promotion or, at least, maintain their category in a very competitive group.
