The Las Rozas City Council has completed the works on the 'La Marazuela Park and landscaping of the Acanto street boulevard', a €1.5 million project co-financed with European funds. The new green space is expected to be operational before the end of the year.
Las Rozas is about to unveil a new green lung. The City Council has declared the main works of the La Marazuela Park completed, an ambitious project that transforms several degraded plots into a leisure and recreation area for residents. The total investment is around €1.5 million, partially funded by European funds.
A renovated boulevard and more green areas
The project focuses on the surroundings of Acanto and Escalonia streets, in the La Marazuela neighbourhood. The project includes the remodelling of the Acanto street boulevard, which now features new urban furniture and a large landscaped area. Additionally, several previously unused plots have been environmentally restored, turning them into accessible green spaces for all.
According to municipal sources, the aim is to improve the environmental quality of the area and provide a meeting place for families. The new park will have a children's playground, a skating rink, and a wellness circuit for seniors. Residents will be able to enjoy a modern and sustainable environment, with special attention to pedestrian accessibility.
Final phase and opening date
The works are in their final phase. Only the installation of the children's playground and the planned plantings remain, which will take place after the summer to take advantage of the best season for their development. The City Council expects the park to be inaugurated before the end of the year, providing residents with a new space for leisure, sports, and community.
The Department of Works and Services has highlighted that the project has been executed with sustainability criteria, using native species and efficient irrigation systems. Furthermore, pedestrian access has been improved, facilitating connections with the rest of the neighbourhood.
A boost for the La Marazuela neighbourhood
La Marazuela is one of the areas of Las Rozas with the highest population growth in recent years. The creation of this park responds to the community demand for more green areas and recreational spaces. The new facility not only enhances the urban landscape but also contributes to the quality of life of residents, who previously lacked a park of this size nearby.
