The Community of Madrid has awarded Pozuelo Swimming Club the Seven Stars Sports Award in the category of inclusive sport, a recognition of its work with swimmers with and without disabilities.
The Pozuelo Swimming Club has been distinguished by the Community of Madrid with the Seven Stars Sports Award for the years 2024 and 2025, in the category of inclusive sport. The Pozuelo de Alarcón City Council presented and defended the candidacy of this local entity, which has a history of four decades and integrates swimmers with disabilities into its ranks.
An Award that Celebrates Inclusion in the Pool
The Seven Stars Sports Awards recognise individuals or entities that stand out in promoting sport in the region. In this edition, Pozuelo Swimming Club has been awarded alongside figures such as former basketball player Sergio 'Chacho' Rodríguez, MotoGP riders Marc and Álex Márquez, tennis player Rafa Jódar, athletes María Pérez and Blanca Hervás, and footballer Vicky López, among others.
In the same category of inclusive sport, the FEDDIG2008 Association has also been awarded. Thus, the Pozuelo club shares the spotlight with elite athletes, highlighting the social value of its project.
40 Years of History and 260 Athletes
Founded 40 years ago to continue the training of students from the municipal swimming school, Pozuelo Swimming Club currently has around 260 athletes, of whom a dozen have some degree of disability. The entity maintains an agreement with the Pozuelo de Alarcón City Council, which provides it with spaces in the municipal sports facilities of El Torreón and Valle de las Cañas.
The Councillor for Sports, Luis Magide, has stated that “it is a source of pride for Pozuelo that one of our clubs is a protagonist of these prestigious awards and that the City Council has been actively involved in presenting and defending that candidacy.” For her part, the Councillor for Family and Disability, Eva Cabello, added that “we are especially pleased that Pozuelo shines in these awards thanks to inclusive sport, which we are so committed to and which is a hallmark of our municipality.”

More than a Club: A Philosophy of Integration
The club not only seeks sporting success but also balances competition with social values. In its facilities, swimmers with and without disabilities share training and competitions under the same philosophy, something the City Council has sought to highlight by promoting its candidacy.
For the residents of Pozuelo de Alarcón, this award represents a recognition of a reference entity in the municipality, demonstrating that sport can be a tool for real inclusion. The award ceremony will take place at an official event yet to be confirmed, where the club will receive the trophy from regional authorities.
Pozuelo Swimming Club continues to achieve milestones in its 40th anniversary, consolidating itself as an example of how grassroots sport can integrate people with disabilities and promote equality from the pool.
