Evacuated individuals staying in Collado Villalba are still unable to return to their homes. The Community of Madrid continues evacuations in Valdemaqueda, Robledo de Chavela, and seven urbanisations.
The Collado Villalba Town Hall has fully operationalised the reception facility for evacuees from the forest fire affecting the Sierra Oeste of the Community of Madrid, despite authorities having initiated a partial de-escalation of emergency measures. The favourable evolution of the fire has allowed for some evacuations to be lifted, but those still housed in the municipality cannot yet return.
This has been confirmed by the Town Hall following a meeting of the Integrated Operational Coordination Centre (CECOPI), where the Minister of the Interior announced the stabilisation of the fire. This situation has enabled a selective lifting of evacuation orders, although the emergency is not considered over.
Specifically, the evacuation order for the El Encinar del Alberche urbanisation in Villa del Prado and the Peralejo district in El Escorial has been lifted. However, authorities have emphasised that this is a progressive de-escalation contingent on the evolution of the various fire fronts.
For the moment, evacuations remain in place for the municipality of Valdemaqueda, Robledo de Chavela, and seven urbanisations located between San Martín de Valdeiglesias and Pelayos de la Presa. Consequently, the municipalities hosting evacuated individuals, including Collado Villalba, are keeping their support services active.
The Collado Villalba Town Hall has set up this facility in collaboration with the Community of Madrid and will continue to provide all necessary assistance until the emergency management determines a safe return for the evacuees to their homes. The emergency services' strategy involves readjusting the security perimeter, concentrating resources on the points where the fire still poses a risk.
Meanwhile, residents housed in Collado Villalba cannot yet return to their homes. The Town Hall has urged patience from those affected and assured them that they will be kept informed of any developments. The priority is to ensure the safety of individuals before authorising their return.
The forest fire, which began several days ago in the Sierra Oeste, has mobilised numerous emergency personnel, including firefighters, forest brigades, and aerial resources. Weather conditions have favoured the containment of the fire, but authorities remain vigilant.
From Collado Villalba, the Town Hall reiterates its commitment to the evacuees and thanks the public for their cooperation. The reception facility includes accommodation, food, and basic healthcare, and will remain operational as long as necessary.
