The regional government incorporates notifications from the Ministry of Family, Youth and Social Affairs into Digital Account. 60% of notifications are now read the same day.
The Community of Madrid has begun sending notifications that were previously sent by postal mail through Digital Account, such as those related to the thermal social bonus, non-contributory retirement and disability pensions, or the mobility subsidy for people with disabilities. The measure, promoted by the Ministry of Digitalisation, aims to streamline procedures and reduce waiting times for citizens.
According to data from the Ministry of Digitalisation, 60% of notifications sent through this new channel are read on the same day they are issued. In the first phase, it is expected to reach 50,000 shipments, a volume that will allow for an estimated saving of 1,665 hours of administrative work for public managers.
The Minister of Digitalisation, Miguel López-Valcerde, highlighted that this initiative “is shortening processing times and directly benefiting Madrid residents.” In his opinion, the speed of the system “will reduce delays, accelerate processes dependent on notification, and cut down the resolution time of the requested procedure.”
With the traditional model, citizens could take between 10 and 30 days to receive the letter, plus an additional two days for the acknowledgment of receipt to be attached to the file. Now, the process is automatically integrated into management applications, manual handling of paper is eliminated, and the margin of error is reduced.
The Community of Madrid manages the thermal social bonus and non-contributory pensions for nearly 230,000 Madrid residents. The initiative will gradually expand to include other postal shipments from the regional administration, with the aim of modernising public service and improving efficiency.
Interested citizens can consult their notifications in a centralised and permanent manner through Digital Account, without needing to wait for the paper letter. This tool is already operational for the first shipments and will be extended to other ministries in the coming months.
