The new viaduct, which connects La Tenería with Industrial Sector 1, has involved a municipal investment of over two million euros and will alleviate congestion on Antonio López and Manuel de Falla streets.
The City Council of Pinto announced the completion of a demand that has been ongoing since 2007 this Tuesday. The Isaac Albéniz bridge, an infrastructure linking the residential area of La Tenería with Industrial Sector 1 and the M-408 and M-506 roads, opened to traffic after an investment exceeding two million euros.
The mayor, Salomón Aguado, presided over the opening ceremony on a day he described as “important for the mobility of the municipality.” The project will help to relieve congestion on two particularly affected roads: Antonio López and Manuel de Falla, which have until now borne much of the outgoing traffic towards the regional roads.
With the new bridge, residents of La Tenería will gain smoother travel to neighbouring towns such as Valdemoro, Fuenlabrada, and Parla, as well as a more direct access to the business fabric of Industrial Sector 1. The connection also benefits workers from the companies located in that area, who will have a fast route for entering and exiting.
“This infrastructure responds to a real need of the residents. We want a more connected, more accessible city that is prepared to keep growing,” Aguado stated during the event. The mayor emphasised that this thus closes “a historical demand” that had been blocked for years due to technical problems.
The original project dates back to 2007, but it was not until the current government team identified the deficiencies preventing its execution that it was resumed. The previous municipal government had awarded the works in January 2023, but the design presented a height difference of over one and a half metres between the structure and the exit to the industrial area, making its use unfeasible.
To resolve this obstacle, the City Council negotiated with the Compensation Board of Sector 1, which took on the cost of the correction, estimated at over 100,000 euros. Once the issue was resolved, the works began in February 2025 under Pavasal Empresa Constructora S.A., and were completed within five months.
In the coming months, the urban conservation entities of industrial sectors 1 and 3 will continue with the work to improve the areas adjacent to the bridge, thus completing the adaptation of the environment.
The opening of the Isaac Albéniz bridge is a relief for drivers who endure delays in the La Tenería neighbourhood every day, especially during peak hours. Furthermore, it improves communication between the urban centre and the industrial areas, a key axis for the local economy.
With this infrastructure, Pinto takes a step forward in its mobility plan, which aims to reduce congestion in the centre and facilitate travel to high-capacity roads. The City Council hopes that the new viaduct will absorb part of the heavy traffic that has until now crossed residential areas, improving the quality of life for residents.
The municipal investment, exceeding two million euros, has been entirely financed with the City Council's own funds, which, according to municipal sources, demonstrates the government's commitment to local infrastructure.
