Summer in Leganés is heating up with the first confirmed names for its major festivals. The Radiolé network has revealed the lineup for its traditional 'Leganés y olé' festival, which will take place on August 11 at 21:00 at the Fairgrounds. This will be the musical kickoff to the Butarque Festivals, which the City Council is shaping with 90% of its programme finalised.
Twelve artists for a night of flamenco and copla
The festival will be hosted by Gema Castaño and Elena Palomo, and will feature a dozen names from the flamenco and copla scene. Among the confirmed artists are Sylvia Pantoja, known for her powerful voice and her appearances on television competitions, and Alberto Toral, a young promise of flamenco fusion. Also taking the stage will be Carmen Lemos, El tren de los Sueños, Kike and Manu, Los Sobraos, José Rarujo and Obed, Fernández, Manuel Muñoz, Montoya and Carmona, Por Camela, and Raúl El Balilla.
This event, which has become one of the most anticipated of the festivals, promises a night of lively rhythms and a festive atmosphere. The doors of the Fairgrounds will open to the public with free entry, as announced by the station itself.
De Marco Flamenco, the secret revealed by mistake
Another name that will be heard in Leganés is De Marco Flamenco, whose real name is Marcos Borrego. The artist, originally from Utrera (Sevilla), was hired to perform on August 15 at the Fairgrounds, according to a contract that was mistakenly published on the public contracting platform and was later removed. The City Council is keeping much of the programming secret to preserve the surprise, but the leak has confirmed the presence of this singer who rose to fame in 2017 while working as a butane delivery driver and released his album 'Uno', merging flamenco with pop and Latin rhythms.
De Marco has established himself as one of the references of modern flamenco, with millions of streams on digital platforms. His performance in Leganés will be one of the highlights of the second week of festivities.
Opening speech, orchestra, and parade of associations
The mayor of Leganés, Miguel Ángel Recuenco (PP), has confirmed that the opening speech of the festivals will take place on Wednesday, August 12, although it has not yet been revealed who will deliver it. After the opening speech, the orchestra Praia de Noia will perform with their tour 'Va por ti', one of the most popular groups in the Galician music scene.
In addition, the traditional parade of associations will once again take centre stage. Revived a few years ago, it will traverse the streets of the town centre and conclude at the venue where the opening speech will be held, which this year could return to the Plaza Mayor after several itinerant editions.
Activities of the associations: humour, games, and caldereta
The Peña de El Bostezo, located at Calle Palomares, 1, has already published its programme of activities. They will kick off on August 7 with a mus tournament and the legendary belly-popping contest at 23:00, followed on Saturday by face painting, riddles, and children's games starting at 18:00.
The following week, a Pepinero Humour Festival will be held in Plaza España on Friday. At Calle San Pedro, 17 in La Fortuna, there will be a distribution of cod caldereta and hugs at 13:00, and in the afternoon, at 19:00, a song Bingo. At 23:00, the monologue show 'Locomedia' will provide the humorous finale.
The Butarque Festivals 2026 promise to be intense, with a programme that combines music, tradition, and citizen participation. The residents of Leganés can already mark the key dates on their calendars: August 11 for the Radiolé festival, August 12 for the opening speech and orchestra, and August 15 for De Marco Flamenco. The City Council assures that more names and activities will be announced in the coming days.
