The Fuenlabrada City Council is carrying out renovation and maintenance work in a dozen public schools over the summer to ensure they are ready for the next school year.
The Fuenlabrada City Council is executing renovation, conservation, and maintenance works this summer in a dozen municipally owned schools, aiming for the centres to be in perfect condition when the school year begins in September.
The works affect both the interior and exterior of the buildings and include adapting the surroundings to prevent flooding, sanitation improvements to eliminate blockages, replacing the polycarbonate in the pergola of one of the centres, and upgrading the fire protection system.
Leaks and damage from humidity are also being repaired, elevator maintenance is being carried out, and painting is taking place in porches and other areas. The Councillor for Education, Ana Pérez, has emphasised that "it is essential for schools to be in the best possible condition at the start of the term" and reminded that these works "are also carried out throughout the year to address incidents that arise."
The centres where these works are taking place include Aula III, Carlos Cano, El Trigal, Francisco de Quevedo, Juan de la Cierva, La Cañada, Rosalía de Castro, Arcipreste de Hita, Velázquez, and Juan XXIII. The works are being carried out during summer hours to avoid interfering with educational activities.
The mayor, Javier Ayala, has visited the works at one of these centres to supervise the progress. The Education department assures that the improvements will allow students and teachers to find the schools "ready" next September.
With these actions, the council aims to prevent issues such as humidity or blockages that could affect the daily life of the educational community. The interventions are in addition to those carried out continuously throughout the year to address incidents that arise in the centres.
