Fuenlabrada University Hospital resumes its free breastfeeding workshops with four sessions starting on 16th September. Registration is now open via email.
Fuenlabrada University Hospital has opened the registration period for a new cycle of free breastfeeding workshops aimed at breastfeeding mothers and their families. The four sessions will be held in training room 1, located on the second floor of the centre, from 17:30 to 19:00 hours.
The first session will take place on wednesday 16th September and those wishing to participate must reserve a spot by writing to lactanciamaterna.hflr@salud.madrid.org. This activity, promoted by the Women's Care Area, has been held at the public hospital for two years.
The workshops, taught by professionals from the centre, combine practical technique explanations with the sharing of experiences among attendees. The aim is for mothers to resolve their doubts and acquire resources to achieve a satisfactory breastfeeding experience in a supportive environment.
Additionally, the hospital uses these sessions to promote prenatal colostrum extraction, a technique that allows for the storage of small amounts of colostrum from the 37th week of pregnancy. If the baby needs extra support at birth and cannot obtain it directly, the previously extracted colostrum can be used as a supplement, thus avoiding the use of formula milk.
The centre has a Breastfeeding Committee made up of nurses, midwives, assistants, neonatologists, and primary care paediatricians, who continuously work on training healthcare staff and informing pregnant women. This initiative reinforces the hospital's commitment to the benefits of breastfeeding for the health of both mother and baby.
Spaces are limited and prior registration is mandatory. Interested families can request more information through the email provided by the hospital or at the midwifery and paediatrics consultations at the centre.
